Whether you are suffering from back or neck pain or you just need to get a better night's sleep, the Tri-Pedic™ and Soft-pedic™ pressure sensitive memory foam mattresses may be just what the doctor ordered.  Created by Dr. Rick Swartzburg, D.C., to help his patients suffering from all types of pain, the Tri-pedicÔ is the first three layer, pressure sensitive memory foam mattress with three different foam densities.  We normally sell 4lb., 4.5lb. and 5lb. densities.  Through listening to all of our customer feedback, we have learned that each density has it's own advantage.   A 5lb. density is more expensive than a 4lb. density, but it will support you better, and be more temperature sensitive.  Although a 5lb. density is what *Tempur-pedic® uses on their mattresses, many of our customers have reported that it is can be too hard when used by itself, especially in cold temperatures.  On the other hand, the soft and plush feeling of a 4lb. density makes you instantly comfortable, but lacks the extra support of a 5lb. density.  Therefore we are proud to feature the Tri-Pedic™, the first three layer, pressure sensitive, memory foam mattress with 3 different foam densities to give you immediate comfort, with the best support system available.  The top two levels total over 4 inches of the highest quality memory foam available for an 9 inch total mattress.  We use a very our special 4lb., 10 ILD memory foam over the higher density 5lb., 20 ILD memory foam.  We follow this up with a very supportive high resiliency polyurethane base.  The Soft-pedic™ was designed especially for side sleepers who want to sink into the mattress deeper to allow even more cradling of their shoulder and hips, but do not want to lose the overall support of the mattress.  We accomplished this by adding in an extra layer of hypo-allergenic Talay latex foam and placed it in the third layer, thereby making it a four-layer mattress.  We zoned this layer to provide more softness for the shoulders and legs, but used a higher ILD latex foam where the hips and low back are to add a greater support for that heavier area of the body.  The top layer is still our extra plush 4lb.foam for that wonderful memory foam feel.  Both the Tri-Pedic™ and Soft-pedic™ use our specially designed hand stitched hypoallergenic, stretchable terry cover that is easily removable for washing.  It has a special breathable design that will ventilate better than most covers to keep your body temperature constant, so you will not have to worry about this mattress getting too hot.  The Tri-pedicÔ and Soft-pedic™ mattresses are soft enough to contour to the bumps and curves of your body, but firm enough to provide proper support and will never bottom out. Visco elastic memory foam was originally developed for NASA, for the astronauts undergoing the high pressure of G-force testing. It is a dense foam that molds to the shape of your body. Researchers realized that this high density elastic memory foam was ideal for relieving pressure on burn patients, this is how the trend of Memory or Visco Elastic foam started.

Tempur-Pedic™ has successfully introduced this visco elastic memory foam to the consumer marketplace many years ago. Unfortunately for consumers, they have had to import this memory foam from Sweden since there weren't any domestic manufacturers making this unique foam. The high cost of importing bulky memory foam on container ships is ultimately passed onto the consumer. Once manufacturers realized that there was a demand created for this elastic memory foam, they started to make it here throughout North America. Fortunately, this unique memory foam is not patented; therefore, any foam manufacturer is able to duplicate the exact same foam product.

Foam is a commodity! Foam is a non-toxic chemical composition.  To derive a foam's chemical composition, it mixed and poured into large vats!  The memory foam then cures for a certain amount of time before it is ready to be cut into a mattress or bed. Depending on the chemical composition, manufacturers are able to make many different density foam products. The good news is that now the consumer is able to sleep on this visco elastic memory foam mattress at a tremendous cost savings since there are many manufacturer's and marketer's in the bedding industry all selling the same mattress. As with all commodity products, the consumer ultimately benefits once supply and demand is qualified.

Tempur-Pedic™ and national mattress companies also have to spend large amounts of money advertising via television and print media. This cost ultimately gets passed along to the consumer at the retail level.
